Program Overview
Students gain the theoretical knowledge, methodological expertise, and practical insight necessary to conduct impactful research and contribute to the academic discipline of sport administration. Graduates are also well-prepared for leadership roles in collegiate athletics, professional and Olympic sport organizations, and the broader sport industry.
This research-intensive, mentor-based program is designed primarily to prepare the next generation of faculty and scholars in higher education. The curriculum aligns with the standards set by the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) and requires completion of a doctoral minor in Applied Statistics and Research Methods, ensuring graduates leave with a strong quantitative and qualitative research foundation alongside deep content expertise in sport administration.

To apply for the Sport Administration Ph.D., you’ll need:
- A master’s degree from an accredited college or university
- A cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better (on a 4.00 scale)
- Three academic or professional letters of recommendation
- A Letter of Intent describing your background, career goals and research interests — stating in the first paragraph that you’re applying to the Sport Administration Ph.D., and naming any faculty member(s) you’re interested in working with. This program is mentor-based, so faculty play a direct role in admissions decisions.
- A current resume or curriculum vitae
- The $50 application fee (waived for current 帝王会所 students and alumni)
The GRE is not required.
